The Chinle formation is also truncated at the top by a gentle erosional surface. This surface is marked by a change from sof purple and grey t the stronger red and brown coloration of the Moenave Formation above. They are not, then, true entrenched meanders from a previous moenave fossil rock higher erosional surface.
